FAQ
How do I make an appointment?
To enquire about an appointment, you can fill out the enquiry form on the home page or email me.
After this initial email, I respond with my currently availability to see if it suits your availability.
If our availability suits, we then proceed to have a a 5-10 minutes phone call where I take some general information from you. Sometimes we may decide at this point that I may not be the best support for you and we chat about finding alternative supports.
However, if we both feel that it feels right to proceed with a session, we set an initial appointment.
Lastly, I send you an email confirming this appointment, useful information and a therapy contract that is required to be signed before we meet. The contract gives information about duration of the session, costs, confidentiality and limits of confidentiality etc.
What should I expect in our first therapy session?
The thoughts of attending therapy can be really daunting and anxiety provoking. It can take someone a very long time to make the initial contact to make an appointment. With this in mind, at the core of our first session, I aim to ensure that you feel comfortable and create an environment that is comfortable for you.
The first session is about getting to know each other and answering any questions you might have. Some things that I might ask about is have you previously attended therapy, your reasons for attending, any goals/expectations that you may have. However, as with all my sessions, if you are not comfortable in sharing some of this information, that is totally ok. My style is encouraging at pace that feels right for you.
In our first meeting, we generally contract for 6 sessions where at the sixth session, we do a review/check in to see how the sessions are for you. This does not mean you have to do a full six sessions if you feel sooner than this point that we are not a good fit. I always advise clients that you are under no obligation to proceed with therapy with myself if you (or I) feel that I am not a good fit for you. Sometimes, knowing if we are a good fit is clear in the first session. Other times, it may take a few more sessions before establishing this. After the first session, I inform clients that they do not have to decide straight away if they wish to return. However, if you are happy to proceed with me, we can discuss scheduling in further sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
How long is a piece of string? Some people attend to have some improvements in their lives, others want to explore much more. It depends on the person, their needs and what they hope to get out of sessions. I generally check in with my clients at the end of each session but I also do reviews to check in how you are finding the overall process.
How long is each session?
Each session is approximately 50 minutes.
How much is each session?
My fee is €70. My fee is €50 for people who are students (this includes psychotherapy/counselling/psychology students also).
All fees can be paid by bank transfer on the day of each session or in cash for in person sessions. You may be able to claim back some of this if you have health insurance.
What happens if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, 48 hours notice (i.e. 2 working days/exclude weekends) is required or the full session fee is charged. If you give more than 48 hours notice, no fee is charged. To cancel our session, please send an email as opposed to text/phone call.

You do not need a GP/doctor referral to organise a session. You can contact me through the enquiry form or at my email address – contact@trusttherapy.ie
Can I claim back for sessions on my health insurance?
This will depend on your insurer and policy type as not all health insurance policies have counselling/psychotherapy visits included. I am covered under some policies with VHI, Irish Life. However, it is best to check with your insurer to see what exactly is covered (e.g. part payment, X amount of sessions) and if my IACP membership status (i.e. accredited) covers this.
