Our bodies work for us, not against us.

Our bodies want to be healthy. Our bodies do not want to suffer

When pain or discomfort comes up in the body, it is often our body communicating to us – “be careful”, “slow down”, a warning sign.

Sometimes our bodies have to shout at us in order to be heard – this might be strong physical sensations, illness, injury. It comes out of a place of “please listen to me” but we often interpret this as our bodies “giving up”, “failing us” or are against us.

Listening/befriending:

For many of us (myself included), it can be hard to trust, connect and to be in our bodies for many reasons (e.g. past illnesses, injuries, traumas, overactive nervous systems, unhelpful thoughts/beliefs about our bodies/physical sensations etc.).

When we feel unsafe in our bodies, we can feel unsafe in our world.

To reconnect in a safe way takes time, patience, nervous system regulation/flexibility, awareness, self compassion and possibly some (professional) help.

The more we befriend and listen to our bodies, the more our body heals.

Words in images:

Our bodies work for us, not against us.

The body says what words cannot.

If we do not know how to say no, our bodies will say no for us.

The more we befriend and listen to our bodies,
the more our body heals.
